Social Eyewitness

A responsive site to inform users and drive app downloads

Role: UX Research, UX Design, UI Design, Branding, Usability Testing
Project Timeline: 10 Weeks
Tools: Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD

The Challenge

Increasing awareness & app downloads

The Social Eyewitness client needed a way to increase awareness of their company and their new product offering, the Social Eyewitness app. The client needed to find ways to drive visitors to their site and increase product downloads via the app store.

Discovery

Identifying the competition, trends & new opportunities

The world is moving at a fast and sometimes chaotic pace. People want to feel secure when they’re away from their homes but are often caught in unexpected situations without the tools they need to help themselves and others.

What was the best method to create a responsive site that supported the Social Eyewitness mobile security app?

A user survey and usability testing helped me understand the strengths and weaknesses of using a site to gain information about a product. Using the data I gathered, I developed a persona that would be my touchstone during the design process.

It was important for the site to provide a holistic user experience, educate existing users, and inspire potential users to try the application.

 Interaction Design

Task and userflow creation

I envisioned how users could easily and consistently accomplish their goals. Exploring potential user journeys through the site allowed me to
keep the decision process simple and make it easy for the user to learn about the company, product and download the app.

 Responsive Wireframes

Framework for an excellent user experience

With an understanding of the features I needed to implement, I started sketching ideas for how to engage users without overwhelming them with too much information. I translated my sketches into digital wireframes which helped define the content structure and elements that would create the site. The fact that the site would be primarily educating the user on what the product offering was and how it might relate to their day to day needs helped guide the design process. The key was to present a wide variety of information that was accessible and translated seamlessly across different device types.

Prototyping & Testing

Usability testing

The goal of the prototype was to help the users easily access information about the product, the company goals and to inspire them to use the product. Using Adobe XD I created a high fidelity prototype, recruited participants and ran a series of moderated remote and in-person tests. I evaluated how users navigated through the site to accomplish their goals by completing a list of tasks.

The Solution

An engaging and informative responsive site

Based on research and testing I created a brand identity and a modern looking responsive web site. The site makes the app download process
accessible and easy. The content provides the user with information regarding the product offering, how the app works and the company’s mission and goals.
